Minnesota architect Earle Richard Cone designed and built the Egloff House for his sister and her husband in 1939. It is eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places as a well-preserved example of a residential design blending Streamline Moderne, Art Deco, and International styles in Mason City, Iowa. The house also features a unique Sheffield Structural Tile system. Located within a floodplain, the house was inundated with nearly three feet of water in 2008. To avoid future flooding, the house was relocated in 2015 to serve as temporary housing for visiting students.
